Yet more wiimote stuff

drventure:

Just came across an interesting product that supports the Wiimote (without the Bluesoliel drivers)

http://www.smoothboard.net/

It's a whiteboarding package for use with a wiimote, but it sounds like it comes with something called SmoothConnect that seamlessly (and automatically, no pairing required after the initial one) connects to your wiimote when you turn it on.

I've got an email into them with some questions.

Will post when I find out more...

drventure:

Dang, the guy just wrote back to me, I guess it's the middle of the day in Singapore  :)

Anyway, he doesn't sell Smoothconnect separately, but the whole thing is only 30$.

And there's an eval.

I'll give it a shot and report back.

Ive heard that you can user them for house of the dead and such, does anyone have any info on that? do you need to hack a sensor bar? :dunno

drventure:

The sensor bar is just a strip of IR leds. So no need for hacking there. I just picked up a few from RS and will be building a frame for them around my monitor.

Supposedly, the WIIMote can act essentially like a mouse, so any game that can be mouse controlled should work. I'm not sure about the accelerometer stuff, though I BELIEVE it works like a joystick. Haven't gotten that far yet.

I still kinda like the wiimote solution over the aimtrack just because it's wireless, but, the aimtrack is very compact and easy to fit into just about anything. I guess it'll depend on whether I can get pairing to be a smooth process and how well the tracking works.

Going to have to try that, can i possibly get a list of equipment i will need to make it work with PC light gun games. I won\'t require use of the accelerometer anyway (well not yet).

Wiimotes are so cool, I hated the Wii until i got one to play Tatsunoko vs capcom, now i love it. apart from the browser what a sank of wank.

Solid,
