And so it begins... the XmRcade
« on: April 14, 2010, 04:05:23 am »
Been dreaming about an arcade since 1994.

Been wanting to do a Mame since 2003.

Been watching this site since 2008.

Made the move last week end and got me those cabs and 1 functional Gauntlet Legends.

50.00$CAN Only monitor missing.

100.00$CAN Empty besides what you see.

150.00$CAN Empty besides what you see.

750.00$CAN Fully Functional, mint.

Hope I was in price ranges, would be interested if any had opinion on that.

The thing is that I prolly should of read a little more about specifics before making a purchase, what sounded like a good deal to me might be crap to others. I still have to find out if I got swindled in taking stuff that is more than I can handle. I also have a feeling that the guy I bought them from, had 3 days after selection to strip good parts before I picked them up knowing I was clueless. Only time will tell.

Total noob, I am compulsively launching myself into a whole new world.
I have been doing "mods" with consoles for 10 years so figured I could use those skills to make this happen.

Wanted to share my experience and progress with this great site,
that will most likely be of tremendous service in the weeks to come.

let's see where this takes me.
thanks for looking and sharing

Wow, jumping in with both feet! Are you going to kitbash?  ;)

That looks like a nice assortment of cabs to play around with.

Are you planning full restores, or maming, or combinations?

Welcome aboard!

Holy bananas you aren't messing around!  Those would be pretty awesome deals if it was US$ but I'm not sure what the exchange rate is these days.  Welcome - can't wait to see what you do with all that stuff.... I'm picturing you restore all of them but also make it so you can combine them all into one giant robot like Devastator or something.   ;D

As of today the Canadian dollar is actually higher than the US dollar ;)

I like the first two cabs but not a fan of the marquee-less Gauntlet Legends cab.  I think I prefer the Darkstalkers cab.

EDIT: Then again the Gauntlet Legends is a fun game and you could retain that but modify it in a way without impacting the integrity and just add functionality for additional games.

No restores are in planning right now, pretty much why I bought the Gauntlet original.
Will be looking to get at least one more original. As far as the other ones, plans are to maming.

Go me a 1.9GHz pentium 4 with 500MB RAM and 20GB HDD for free. Also got a JVC 27" tube and 2 Samsung 20" flat tubes free as well.
I plan on using an Original Xbox for one of them, since I know those system in and out.

Holy bananas you aren't messing around!

Always been very compulsive with new projects, only thing is that it has been with consoles up to now, this is a all new world.
(old console projects, check my ytube channel, favorite is Xnes
)

oh, it has a Marquee, folds down for transportation and stayed down due to height of my basement  :(

thanks for the replies, suggestions and ideas are always welcome.
Will keep you guys posted with any new development.
