I loved the jumping animation when I first saw it since it's intensionally horrible to be a parody of the jumping animations from 10+ years ago.

That just doesn't sit well with me. It seems to me that if you're going to parody aspects of gaming 10+ years ago you do it in such a way that doesn't break the cohesion of the product. You've got a well textured world with high poly-count geometry and an engine that does inter-keypoint interpolation, and then you feed it stiff animation?
Admittedly I have no played the game, only watched playthrough videos, but they all felt as though something was just not quite right. If parody was the intent, it was lost on me.

I'll buy it, but I'll wait 'till it hits the bargain bins...

And thats exactly why I thought it was funny. The world of Duke Nukem is already completely absurd and they make it clear that Duke is from a previous era, so it makes perfect sense to me to make an animation that you rarely see part of that joke.
Just to be clear, I don't think this is a great game that everyone will enjoy, and I can even understand why some people hate the game. I'm just saying that I'm having a lot of fun with it.

Yea the load times are awful on 360, but it's not too terrible. I am a fan of Duke though. Still have the original installed and an action figure. ;D

Holy ---steaming pile of meadow muffin---, I thought the EXACT same thing. Well, I played it, and as a Duke Nukem 3D fan, I HATED it. The game itself sucks SO BADLY. If I paid 60 bucks for that damn game I would have driven to gearbox and punched everyone of those ---uvulas--- in the face. The animations for everything are super stiff, dying is the most frustrating thing ever, the graphics look terrible, duke can only carry 2 weapons at once, when you kill aliens nothing happens, no blood no gore no explosions or anything. Oh man I was SOOOO BUMMED. I cant even type everything I want to say. The animations are abysmal, even the game itself, sans the "humor" aspect of it, is just poorly executed. Technically, its a ---smurfy--- game made 5 years ago. I wasnt even expecting that much but man. Its close to unplayable if you die twice in the span of a minute. Granted, I havent played a FPS in awhile, but cmon. :banghead:
The load times shouldnt even be like that when the graphics suck as bad as they do! :censored:
See, I noticed him jumping, and I thought the exact same thing Cotmm said. If it was a joke, I didnt think it was funny. If they wanted to make a joke of it, they should have made him jump like spiderman or something when he is in the mirrior, just as a contrast to how it used to be. I want to find a copy of Duke 3d and play it just to get the bad taste out of my mouth.
I want to have fun with it, but I just cant. :'(
