This is an extension to the other iPad thread, so throw your apple hate here.
(for the record I am still an amiga fan) also, I am not an iPad fan. I threw away 500 of my dollars when I could have easily kept them.

I will happily receive it in my mail. I will pay for shipping if that's really needed, but I feel I'm doing you a big favor by getting rid of it.

And you're making a fellow BYOAC-er happy with it, for I will use I want to use it for.

See, i'm one of those old guys that think that watching movies should be done on a big TV, with my B&W 6 series home theater surround set. That is actually enjoying a movie. So I don't care if it plays videos.
And listening to music (I mean sitting, doing nothing else but listening to music) is done through the same B&W set.
Or my Ipod Nano when I'm in the car or out. One of those devices I bought and just have worked ever since without a single issue.
I use a phone (Nokia) for calls.
I don't own a web-cam for my Mac, why is it so important ? Why would I want one that would make REALLY weird pictures from your lap (imagine how that will look).

The iPad:
I want it for surfing the internet on the couch, reading e-mails etc.
I want if for reading and scrolling through PDF's when I'm working on a cab
I want it for showing my (family) pics to friends and family
I want it for small-party (2/3 people) instructions (presentations) that I give (where a beamer is just a joke)

I'm not that demanding really. I will PM my address if you're interested of getting rid of it....

CheffoJeffo:
I originally thought I would want an iPad -- for many of the same reasons that L42 does, except that I want to be able to stream all of my media and I want to be able to take it to meetings instead of my monster notebooks or a netbook.

I also want, on occasion, to be able to do some tasks that Apple doesn't have an app for (and being able to do those tasks would allow me to expense the damn thing).

I am REALLY hoping that HP's Slate doesn't suck!

Yeah, but you play low resolution video games housed in big wooden boxes, so what do you know ?   ;)

Actually, Apple does not get better... because they stick to core beliefs
that they will not change.

They believe its far better to have almost no ports on their devices,
because ports look bad, to them.   Same reason why there is no easy battery
change - because that would put visible screws on the device.

These are only a small few reasons why no I-Device will ever be better.
There are far more reasons beyond those.

MS does believe in change.  However, that change usually is made to make things
more difficult, and less effective.
