In the days of TRON, giant mainframes with dummy terminals were the norm. So the idea of a, "One Mainframe to rule them all, One Mainframe to find them, One Mainframe to bring them all and in the darkness bind them," kind of made sense. Mainframes still exist, but they've long been eclipsed by fully independent clients. Hell, I wouldn't doubt a good percentage of the clients out there are equally, or even more powerful, than the servers they're connecting to. Geez, how many of us have full blown networks at home that exceed the raw processing power of any company server? Point being, a central mainframe that was the central focus of the original just isn't applicable. I'm curious how the producers intend to reflect the changes in modern computing/networking and whether they'll do it accurately.

Well, if this server's been running unassisted since 1989 (good uptime!), it's probably both almost as slow as the original Tron mainframe, and probably not connected to the net. So stuff like that may or may not come up.

I gota say, it looks a 1000x better than the first trailer I had seen.

Still, it pains me to think about how it will unfold.  Id love to be pleasantly surprised...but I feel like its going to be a disappointment.

Looks very serious and dark, which can make things interesting... But, the
original Tron was far from that.  It was a fun romp.

The original was also quite groundbreaking in the thoughts behind the concepts
of such a world.   Yet, is there anything new being added here besides better
visuals and non-restricted cycles?

I didnt like the distorted drums and explosions at all.
From the initial preview, I dont get a good vibe about the 'kid'.

As said, its probably way better they chose not to remake it.  So, I guess
we shall have to see how it pans out.  If anything... At least it will be in 3d.

That makes two of us

I just think that's awesome how they incorporated the whole 20 years passing for both the movie storyline and the viewers since the first tron.  I think I heard somewhere that Kill Bill is also doing something like this.. waiting for the little girl to grow up, the one who watched her mom get killed in the kitchen.. idk can't really remember too much about that movie.. but yeh I'm glad that they decided to change up the suits to black and put in a new car vehicle and give them new haircuts or whatever everyones already nitpicking at, because I'm sure a majority of the fans would be pissed off if they decided to film the second movie with everything exactly the SAME
