Clash of the Titans - Remake
Malenko:
went and saw it, it was good. It was not great, its definitely a watch on DVD/On-Demand. Some of the CGI was pretty bad, and the fight scenes were pretty average. Some cool effects, I got a chuckle at the OBVIOUS Original Movie reference. Its right on par with the first, I mean the first will always mean more to me because it was so magical in my youth, but this one wasn't a let down. I expected average and that's what I got.

R2D2 and C3PO was also "silly", but Starwars probably just would not have
been the same without them. That touch of lite comic relief really helps a movie
from becoming too serious.
Just as the Metal Owl, had this quirky & funny personality, really helped bring
the movie that much more to life. (and seemed a bit more fitting than a rolling
trashcan that appeared to have no way to navigate stairs)
I remember as a Kid watching Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and not liking how
they were Always happy and smiling. However, Ive seen an episode of the remade
TMNT, and they are always Fierce looking. I dont know why, as a
director/creator, you wouldnt want to portray at least some sort of realistic emotions.
Maybe the Happy gen kids grew up angry, and made the Turtles Angry just to
counter the babyish pampering and phony moods portrayed in the past.
ehh
IMOP, the Metal Owl doth Rule ;D
Epyx:
Watched it and while not great it certainly wasn't as terrible as I had feared it would be. I also have to agree with Ginsu in that I prefer a long movie (given the right genre)...A good fantasy or SF movie almost always deserves to be 2 1/2+ hours long.
I would have watched Lord of the Rings even if they were 4 hours each...no problem :)
shmokes:
Shrug. I think it depends far more on the quality of the director, the depth of the story being told and so on. I mean, Das Boot was like 3.5 hours long or something and every second was riveting. U-571, on the other hand, not so much. A 3.5 hour U-571 would have been horrifying. I suppose there's probably some correlation with genre since, for example, comedies are not usually telling deep stories with complex characters and story lines. But every minute of extra Phantom Menace footage would have made the movie even worse than it already was. Or Battlefield Earth. My god. Even Lord of the Rings. They're pretty good movies but The Two Towers in particular would have been better with some more editing and maybe ten minutes or so shaved off. 2001: A Space Odyssey would have been considerably better if an hour or more of the film had been left on the cutting room floor.

SPOILER ALERT
Me & some friends went to go see it...and I thought it was a good adventure flick, I was blown away just because "I'm seeing the remake" and then i realized it when i saw the ending credits...It was a piece of ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- wrapped in shiny gold pretty foil!...There were so many continuity problems and holes in it that ticked me off...Top of my head...
1. In the original, It was Poseidon who was the one who started everything. Remake was Hades...
2. What was up with the Gay blurry armor on Zeus?...
3. Hades, played by Ralph Fiennes, was basically Lord Vordemort playing Hades, playing Lord Vordemort...For a min there i thought he was going to do the "Red Dragon" scene at any min...
4. It took the group 10 days to get from Argos to the Stygian Witches...but it took Perseus and Pegasus to get back to Argo within 5 min.
5. I wanted to slap the cult leader (leaded the rioters)
6. Apollo was gay...
7. Perseus was a fisherman, but give him 2 mins of sword training, and he becomes a jedi...WTF?
8. Perseus can break through the body of a scorpion like tearing into a wet paper bag...but can use the armor against Medusa?
9. Wood man with exploding heart....WTF?
10. I felt like I was watching Qui-Jon instead of Zeus...
In the end, we were disappointed because we were comparing the original to the remake...and yeah, the original wasn't a great film, but it was a blockbuster when we were kids...and we kept that "vision" as a child as awesomeness...I was just disappointed...
