Clash of the Titans - Remake

shmokes:
Shrug.  Planet Terror (what I was thinking was Grindhouse, I guess) was at least campy and had some fun parts, but I didn't think it really succeeded at what it was trying to do.  Death Proof was just a gigantic bore from beginning to end.

Ginsu Victim:
Planet Terror was spoofing John Carpenter movies, and as a Carpenter fan, I think Rodriguez did an excellent job.

I can see saying you were bored with Death Proof....but all the way through? The car chase was fantastic (it was no To Live and Die in LA, but it was very well done).

shmokes:
The car chase was the best part, of course, and it was technically impressive in terms of the stunt-work (I sort of have the impression that the whole movie was an ode to unappreciated stuntmen and women).  But I just didn't care about any of the characters at all. And, in fact, I was still reeling from the fact that they had left their friend behind to be raped by that redneck.  Or had they?   . . . my memory may be fuzzy on that.  At any rate . . . I was so bored by the time the car chase took place that it did little to pique my interest back up.  And then the fight at the end was just retarded.  I was surprised they didn't all jump in the air for a group high-five and yell, "Girl power!"

Oh yeah . . . the worst thing by far about the movie is that as is typical of Tarantino, it was filled with lots and lots of dialogue.  Normally his movies have seemingly pointless dialogue . . . just every day banter, but it's so real and interesting and funny and sharp.  The dialogue in this movie seemed perfectly authentic and real, but it was insufferably tedious.  Just chicks talking about lame lame personal, uninteresting ---steaming pile of meadow muffin---.

Yeah. He's supposed to be the same character from Kill Bill vol 1 that pays Buck to let him have sex with The Bride while she's in a coma.

It ended the way a lot of films used to end. Bad guy dead....THE END. It's by no means a great film (it's Quentin's worst, but I still love it), but the second half is great (I love car chases -- hell, I own Short Time with Dabney Coleman because it has one of the best car chases not shot by William Friedkin).

Cakemeister:
Saw the movie tonight. Pretty good action-adventure.

Never saw the original.
