Clash of the Titans - Remake

Howard_Casto:
Agreed... I'm not a fan.  When you remake the prime example of Ray Harryhausen's stop motion animation in cgi it is apparent that you have missed the point in regards to it's lasting fan-base.  Now what they could have done is took the original film and re-integrated the original stop motion effects, only this time using coraline's ground-breaking "frame blending" technology which would have resulted in the same beautiful work minus the jerkyness.

In other words a new coat of paint wouldn't have been too bad, but this is like throwing the baby out with the bathwater.

Gorotsuki:
Can they not create something new?
I thoroughly enjoyed the original Clash of the Titans.
There doesn't need to be another one.
What is so difficult about making new things?
I'm reliving my childhood at 35 years of age.

Howard_Casto:
Well considering the newest original idea hollywood came up with is "Hot Tub Time Machine".  I think I've just answered your question.   ;)

It's especially bad when the economy is bad.  New IP is always dangerous cos you have to educate the public from scratch.  When the economy is down and ticket sales are down and investments are bleeding money, big companies fewer risks.  Retreads like this have customers built-in.  This thread wouldn't exist right now if Clash of the Titans was a new property.

Gorotsuki:
Wasn't the economy bad
when the original movie was released?
