Rowe WP-100 "Storm" AKA LaserStar WallPhono
« on: March 02, 2010, 01:53:42 am »
I just picked up a Rowe WP-100 "Storm" for $200.

When the guy turned it on it started to initialize (check all the CD's one at at time). He said it would take 45 minutes to an hour to finish.
I didn't want to wait, so I just took it was cheap.

He claimed it works (would play discs) after it was done initializing/warming up.

Is it normal for it to initialize each time it's turned on?
Or is there some sort of memory backup that isn't working?

I'm also hoping to find a free pdf of the service manuals.
I think they would use the name LaserStar WallPhono...anybody have a link?

Thanks!

Bob C

check the computer battery with a voltmeter, it may need replacing...to get to it you have to remove the computer from the unit and take off the plastic panels. battery is round silver

failing that

do a full initialization on it.... service mode button on....30...popular.....service button off...will take a while...have a sandwich...

once it stops leave it for a few more minutes then shut it off for about 10 mins then power it on again...if it starts thumbing through the cd's again you may have an issue.

keep us updated

Thanks. Right now the machine is in storage so it will a couple months. I'll hold onto your advice.

Thanks!
