Finish One... Another Drops In Your Lap?!

Never seen a Marble Madness cab in all its glory.  Up until a couple months ago when I started working on my own MAME, I thought it was a NES game only.   :-[  Looks pretty sweet though.

FrizzleFried:
Welp... I finally got started on restoring this cab.  I got 80%+ of the old vinyl off the cab last night before my hot decal remover broke on me...

I should have the rest done today.  I've decided to go with paint (oil based black satin) rather than vinyl because... well... vinyl sucks ass and I manage to screw it up every time I've tried.   I have some Phoenix Arcade side art to go on as well and I picked up some dark blue T-Molding that will look real nice on the cab...

FrizzleFried:
I finished stripping the cab... I then busted out some glazing putty to fix a few dings, etc...

Tomorrow I plan on sanding and priming with paint likely coming Thursday...

TheShanMan:
So did ya get that RS desoldering iron to beef up the hot decal remover? If so, how did you like it?

I did and I like it much better.  It's hotter and it's sturdier.

I finished this cab.  I went with black satin latex paint because I had some on hand.  I've ALWAYS used black oil based enamel and now I know why.  The result isn't bad,  but damn,  this stuff goes on MUCH thinner.  It took 3 coats of black to cover the white primer!  Blah... that sucks.  The only real benefits of the water based latex is cleanup and smell.   The oil based stuff just goes on much nicer.

That said,  the finished product looks good.  I went with a dark blue T-Molding.  At first I was a little disappointed in the lack of "pop" that light blue gives... but after a while I started to dig the subtle change of the dark blue.
