| Quick question about I-PAC/J-PAC |

I'm converting an old jamma cabinet to MAME. I've read everywhere that using an ArcadeVGA card with a J-PAC is they way to go. I was wondering though, since I'm completely scrapping the current control panel & buttons/wiring, would it be easier just to use an I-PAC? I'm going for a standard capcom-like panel layout. Using an ArcadeVGA, the J-PAC's 15hz detection thing is redundant and not totally necessary, right? The price for an I-PAC, ArcadeVGA, and breakout cable is less than the ArcadeVGA and a J-PAC. Which would you reccomend? |

The J-PAC will not save any wiring time if you dont have JAMMA wiring in the cabinet and so an I-PAC will be OK. But the J-PAC also has a video amplifier. Some monitors need this, but we do sell a separate video amplifier which is an alternative to the one built into the J-PAC. Andy |

There is JAMMA harness/wiring right now, but it is all soldered to the old control panel, I think it might be more work to save the JAMMA stuff. How do you tell if you would need a video amplifier? I know it has some sort of WG monitor. |
