--- Quote from: Mikezilla on September 27, 2010, 12:52:54 pm ---I think Tool is one of the most overrated bands in the history of music. Same with U2. I cant stand em. Blaugh.  :banghead:

I didn't like them for the longest time. After seeing them twice and understanding their music more, I love them. I'll see them live every chance I get, now, and can't wait for their next album.

Mikezilla:
Hm. Well Im not there yet.  ;D I do however like their drummer...I forgot his name. Danny something. Im not sure he is even in the band anymore. He was on Undertow, and the album after that... My ex gf LOVED tool, and I had to go cause none of her friends liked em (go figure so I was forced to go. Lamesville.

Ginsu Victim:
Danny Carey, and he's still their drummer. Seeing him play from 11 rows away was AWESOME.

I wasn't a fan when I first saw them live, but thought they put on a good show. Then one day it just clicked, and a year later (back in June), I went to my second show and it was incredible (better performance this time, as well).

They've gone way more progressive since the stuff you've mentioned. I'm a big prog rock fan, so songs like Lateralus (multiple odd time signatures, including competing signatures within the same section) and Third Eye are right up my alley.

Mikezilla:
Ahh yes. Good call. Oh wow I bet. I was perusing some youtube stuff and I found him on there. He is really good at his craft.

Rock on. I probably still have a bad taste in my mouth from my ex haha, but who knows, maybe down the road Ill learn to like em more.

Cool.

--- Quote ---I disagree with you there Xiaou. Im a fan of the old MD stuff like, RIP, and countdown to extinction, but their newer stuff just sounds like they are trying to cram too much stuff into them. Kinda like "hey look we can play guitar really fast, we are still relevent right?" I dunno, Im a rabid Metallica fan so Im also going to disagree that Death Magnetic is crappy. Yeah, granted, Load and Reload werent as good as their other albums, but no band makes flawless albums every time they release a record. Megadeth is a perfect example of that.  ;) There were a few good songs on each record, but over all, that time period in Metallica's history was whack. Then again, look at the rest of music the time those albums came out. Everything sucked at the time. Besides, every album up until black (which is still an awesome album, just listen to the damn lyrics) blows past Countdown or RIP imo. Dave Mustaine even admits that Master is better than most of his albums. The reason why Megadeth doesnt sell as much is because they didnt evolve like Metallica did. And their music just isnt as good. I personally like Death Magnetic. It sure as hell doesnt sound as sloppy and chaotic as St. Anger. That album was a mess. They got their ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- straight and released a new album that kicks ass.

Effin' right there Mikezilla! Death Magnetic is awesome. Sure every Metallica album isn't perfect... want an example? Load, Reload and St. Anger. Metallica was just experimenting and exploring other sounds and such. But that doesn't mean all the songs on the albums sucked. You have to read lyrics and understand some songs. I for one, enjoy listening to Hero Of The Day (Load).
