I agree. Justice was my Fav. too.
But over the years, my taste has changed. Maybe cause Im not an angry teen
anymore heh. I tend to listen to more 'newage' these days than metal. However,
I still love MD, play them often. Its very rare that I can listen to even the old Metallica
anymore.
Maybe its cause Metallica's old stuff is kinda 'ugly' sounding. Where as MD is hard & heavy,
but more pleasing to the ears / soul.
Im sure a lot of it has to do with Hammet. His solos might 'fit', but they are not
really all that pleasing compared to Martys upbeat & smooth sounding riffs.
Ginsu Victim:
Hell, I'll take Rust in Peace over any Metallica album, but I'll take the Kill 'em All - Justice over the rest of Megadeth's albums. (That's right, even Peace Sells)
Xiaou2:
Dave has openly stated that he believes people came there to hear them play music, and
not to listen to him/bands talk.
I think that may be true of someone who wasnt a MD fan, but I believe a lot of
people wouldnt mind to hear Dave chatter for a while. Problem is... those who attend
who dont know MD might start acting up when music isnt playing. (Ive seen it
happen with the other bands, when a lead singer was talking about his home life
when they were experiencing amp issues. Then again, they sucked even when they
were playing...)
Also, Being that the promoters only pay them for a certain small time block... he has
little choice in the matter. If they extended the play, they work for free... and they may
run into having to pay the security & personnel that run the places money for the extra
time they have to stay there. All I know is that he has stated that he would love to
do longer sets for his fans... but that the people behind the venues dont agree to it.
Usually MD's extra entertainment is Dave exploding at some lax security guy or
throwing a guitar because the sound system is screwed. Ive seen both, and more. heh
Edit: as for the others playing with him... Ive never been a fan of any of those bands.
Really, I dont know who could compare to MD. Not many bands come anywhere near
their caliber... and they seem to lump deathmetal type bands with MD... which
really, MD isnt anything close to Soundwise.

That's what I love about going to Tool concerts. Barely any banter, and Maynard stays in the shadows. It's completely about the music.

--- Quote ---I just cant believe that MD isnt selling to larger arenas in the states.
Metallica sucks since black (and that wasnt that good either), and I wont
support them with a single penny anymore. Im also surprised at the
fans who continue to buy their Crappy albums. Nothing they have done
past black would get played at local gigs if they didnt have the Name
and decent past songs behind them. (all of which dont even hold up
to an album like Countdown to Extinction or RIP)

I disagree with you there Xiaou. Im a fan of the old MD stuff like, RIP, and countdown to extinction, but their newer stuff just sounds like they are trying to cram too much stuff into them. Kinda like "hey look we can play guitar really fast, we are still relevent right?" I dunno, Im a rabid Metallica fan so Im also going to disagree that Death Magnetic is crappy. Yeah, granted, Load and Reload werent as good as their other albums, but no band makes flawless albums every time they release a record. Megadeth is a perfect example of that. ;) There were a few good songs on each record, but over all, that time period in Metallica's history was whack. Then again, look at the rest of music the time those albums came out. Everything sucked at the time. Besides, every album up until black (which is still an awesome album, just listen to the damn lyrics) blows past Countdown or RIP imo. Dave Mustaine even admits that Master is better than most of his albums. The reason why Megadeth doesnt sell as much is because they didnt evolve like Metallica did. And their music just isnt as good. I personally like Death Magnetic. It sure as hell doesnt sound as sloppy and chaotic as St. Anger. That album was a mess. They got their ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- straight and released a new album that kicks ass.

I think Tool is one of the most overrated bands in the history of music. Same with U2. I cant stand em. Blaugh. :banghead:
